Educating the Whole Child.

Weeping Willow Tree Classroom

1ST GRADE

In first grade, students will learn how to solve addition problems with sums up to 20, do subtraction problems with numbers 0-20, and learn how to tell time to the nearest hour and half-hour using analog and digital clocks.

Students will look closely at pictures and do "close reads" with books.  They will practice expressing what they notice and wonder and will often have partner or group discussions. Through this practice they will learn how to express their own point of view and build on others ideas.

We will build important reading and writing skills and at the end of the year students should be able to attempt to write and spell new words phonetically, read and write common words such as where and every, and write complete sentences with correct capitalization and punctuation.

a little about me

Email >

"Hello! My name is Hunter Hyde and I am looking forward to meeting and growing with all of you this year.

I graduated from Weber State with a Bachelors of Elementary Education and a minor in Mathematics. While in college I enjoyed working as an RA, in the outdoor program, and in student leadership. I am from the Covid generation and had to do a lot of my student teaching and observations *virtually*. I have always loved school though. Growing up my teachers were my greatest role models and I always knew I wanted to become them one day. I want to foster my love of learning and share it with your child so that they feel inspired and empowered in their own education.

Outside of being a teacher I have many hobbies including climbing, musical theater, traveling, yoga, and camping. I love listening to music and singing in the car. You might find me at The Front, Powder Mountain, Grounds for Coffee, or in a tent somewhere.

I love children, learning, and the outdoors so I'm very excited to have found a perfect fit at GreenWood.

Be somebody who makes everyone feel like somebody.
