1ST GRADE
In first grade, students will learn how to solve addition problems with sums up to 20, do subtraction problems with numbers 0-20, and learn how to tell time to the nearest hour and half-hour using analog and digital clocks.Students will look closely at pictures and do "close reads" with books. They will practice expressing what they notice and wonder and will often have partner or group discussions. Through this practice they will learn how to express their own point of view and build on others ideas.
We will build important reading and writing skills and at the end of the year students should be able to attempt to write and spell new words phonetically, read and write common words such as where and every, and write complete sentences with correct capitalization and punctuation.

Hi! My name is Ms. Jen and I am so excited to meet you and your students! I am starting my 7th year at GreenWood and can’t wait. I have never been more excited for a school year to begin. I have been lucky enough to have worked with just about every grade at the school, but my heart will always be with the younger age group. Their excitement and passion to learn are unmatched by any other grade I have worked with. So is their energy! I adore my time with them. I have spent the last few years working in the Literacy Department with their intervention team, mostly specializing in First and Second-grade skills.Get social.
