Giant Sequioa Tree Classroom

Kindergarten

In Kindergarten at Greenwood Charter School we focus on educating the whole child through centers, play, and hands on learning. For Math and Reading we follow the Utah Common Core State Standards. We are currently using the Eureka Math Curriculum and the Reading Horizons Curriculum. We also use the EL curriculum in Kindergarten where we focus on Toys and Play, Weather, and Trees. We practice mindfulness, movement breaks, and social emotional building. Kindergarten is a great place to be!

a little about me

Hello! My name is Mandy Toone, and I am thrilled to be your kindergarten teacher this year! With a passion for nurturing young minds, I am excited to create a fun, engaging, and supportive learning environment for all my students.

I believe that every child is unique and has their own special talents. My goal is to encourage curiosity and creativity while helping each child develop a love for learning. I enjoy incorporating songs, stories, and hands-on activities into our lessons, making learning feel like an exciting adventure!

In my classroom, we will explore letters, numbers, and the world around us through play and exploration. I love seeing the joy on my students’ faces as they discover new things and make new friends.

I received my Bachelor of Arts in Educational Studies from WGU, while working as a Para at our local Elementary School.

When I’m not teaching, you can find me spending time with my husband of 18 years and our 2 kids and 2 dogs. We love the outdoors whether it’s hiking, biking, fishing, golfing, and skiing in the winter.

I can’t wait to embark on this wonderful journey with you all. Here’s to a fantastic year of growth and learning together!

From small beginnings come great things.
