Hello!
My name is Nanci (she/her) and I am originally from New Jersey. I moved to Ogden about a year and a half ago with my husband Mark and our blue heeler pup, Rhea. I completed my Bachelors of Arts at New York University and began my teaching career abroad, in South Korea, at a local middle school in the city of Daejeon. While there, I was lucky enough to meet my husband who was serving in Korea for the US Air Force. From there, we moved to Las Vegas where I first taught at a small private Montessori school, teaching ELA with ages 2-6. I received my teaching license through my M.Ed program at UNLV, allowing me to move on to a local charter school where I taught 8th and 9th grade English, as well as a Creative Writing course, and coached Battle of the Books, a competitive book reading club.
I graduated in May 2021 with my Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus in Secondary English language arts from UNLV. I have been teaching for five years and have been working with young people in various environments for over a decade. When I am not in the classroom, I can be found hiking with my pup, chasing down fly balls in the outfield, catching frisbees in the end zone, and snowboarding the local mountains of northern Utah. I am a voracious reader, lover of all things Harry Potter, and enjoy listening to podcasts that expose me to interesting stories and voices from all over the world. Staying fit, both mentally and physically, are two of my favorite pastimes.
Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the COURAGE TO CONTINUE that counts.
