Welcome to 2nd Grade! We are thrilled to have you join us as we learn and grow! In 2nd grade we explore and learn in many different ways with a focus on FUN with purpose!
Throughout the year, all second grade students will become more experienced readers, researchers, and writers as they explore the world around them, as well as the earth long ago, through Expeditionary Learning.
We learn in complex ways and strive to build an appreciation for learning across all subjects!

a little about me
Hello! I am Courtney Knobla. I'm a passionate educator with 8 years of teaching 1st & 2nd graders and two degrees in Early Childhood Education. I love teaching with EL education because my goal is to teach the whole child. I want the kids that I work with to have a great self-esteem and a growth mindset as they learn in a consistent and intentional environment that I create in my classroom. I strive to give them tools to understand and grow socially and emotionally. Of course, I also love building solid academic foundations using hands-on, engaging lessons that have researched-based instructional strategies. My goal is to empower my students with creative thinking and problem-solving skills that they can use throughout many aspects of their lives. My hope is that all my students feel loved, respected and connected to their environment and to others. Hopefully, I nurture intrinsic motivation for them to exemplify what I have guided them towards to use throughout their lives.
