7th & 8th ELA & UT History Class disclosure

It has been my joyful experience to teach in education for two years now!
Prior to teaching, I taught in outdoor education for six years. I have had the pleasure of leading backpacking excursions, teaching rock climbing, guiding nature school hikes, and coaching mountain biking. I worked and volunteered with organizations such as Powder Mountain, Friends of the Great Salt Lake, Trails Foundation of Northern Utah, the Weber State Outdoor Program and adjunct teaching at Weber State in the Recreation Program. From my career as a guide, my educational philosophy is that learning should be hands on and get a little messy!
I attended Weber State University where I obtained a Bachelor’s of Science in Outdoor Community Recreation Education, an emphasis in Outdoor Administration and a minor in Military Science. Beginning in the Fall of 2025, I am pursuing a Master’s of Arts in English from Weber State University. Due to my work in outdoor education, I also hold several certifications such as Utah Master Naturalist, Leave No Trace Level 2 Trainer, BICP Level 1 mountain bike coach, AIARE Level 1, and Wilderness First Responder.
In my spare time, you can find me reading (naturally), skiing in the winters, trail running and mountain biking in the summer with my husband. I am a devoted nerd, loving all things fantasy, sci-fi, and Jane Austen. I strive to live an active lifestyle, volunteer, and engage in local government. From May 2023-May 2025 I served on the Ogden Trail Network Committee running their social media and trail building. I volunteer in the spring and summer as a Ride Leader with local nonprofit WomenMTB. It is also my duty and honor to serve our country in the Utah Army National Guard.
Since it is so likely that children will meet cruel enemies, let them at least have heard of brave knights and heroic courage.
