COVID-19 at GreenWood Charter School

We are so excited for the 2021-2022 school year and can’t wait to see our families and students! Our teachers are

excited to get back to school and dig into our Expeditionary Learning and structures that we are used to here at

Greenwood. Last year was definitely a challenge for all involved! We are grateful to have in person instruction this

year. There will not be an online option. We had hoped that the pandemic would be behind us, but it looks like we will

need to continue to be diligent to keep our students and families safe from the spread of Covid-19.

At GreenWood Charter School we are focusing on the positive.

The Utah Department of Health strongly recommends the following layered prevention strategies in K-12 schools:

  • Everyone 12 years and older who can should get vaccinated for COVID-19
  • Wear masks indoors (behind vaccination, this is one of the more effective means of slowing spread)
    • This is a recommendation, not a requirement. The Utah Legislature passed HB 1007 which prohibits schools from requiring face coverings in school during this upcoming school year.
  •  Stay home when you’re sick (any sickness) and screen students for symptoms daily before coming to school.
  • Isolate at home if you test positive for Covid-19
  • Maximize physical distancing as practical
  • Improve indoor ventilation where possible
  • Practice good hygiene and utilize cleaning and disinfection
  • Tables will continue to be cleaned frequently and classrooms will be disinfected at the end of each day.
  • Students will be encouraged to practice good hygiene including frequent hand washing and respecting personal space.
  • Every classroom has an air purification system in place.

Choose one of the following Quarantine Options:

  • Quarantine at home for 10 days.
  • Quarantine at home for 7 days and then get tested. If you test negative and do not have any symptoms of COVID-19, you can return to school.
  • Wear a mask at school for 10 days.
  • Wear a mask at school for 7 days and then get tested. If you test negative on day 7 you don’t have to wear a mask anymore.

If you are exposed to someone at school who tests positive for COVID-19, it will not be necessary to quarantine if:

  • You are fully vaccinated for COVID-19 (2 weeks after your final dose), or
  • You and the person who tested positive were both wearing masks, or
  • You have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 90 days or
  • You were wearing a N95 or KN95 mask, even if the person who tested positive was not wearing a mask.

In addition, masks must be worn by drivers and passengers in vehicles on all school-related trips (CDC Order). If Greenwood has 30 or more active cases, teachers and students must Test to Stay to continue in-person learning.

Any student isolating at home will be required to engage in asynchronous learning provided daily on their teacher’s Google Classroom.

As you know, this is a fluid situation, so changes may come. We will inform you as soon as possible about any updates. Please let us know if you have any questions.
